Scadabhagh: your questions answered
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Scadabhagh?
All our work, in Scadabhagh and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Is Scadabhagh in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Scadabhagh is part of that. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Where are you based?
Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Which products do you use?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we’re using.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we’re fully insured.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Scadabhagh?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the product. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.

What happens if it’s left?
The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
Why us?
- Neat joints and a tidy finish
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- We are fully insured
- ARBOMaster approved applicator

Bathroom resealing around Scadabhagh
Scadabhagh is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Work on the islands has to be planned around ferry crossings and the weather, so give us as much notice as you can.
In and around Scadabhagh, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Whether the job is in Scadabhagh itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

How the job changes by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.
Sinks & splashbacks
Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.
When it isn’t the sealant
In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.
What we seal
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
What affects the quote in Scadabhagh
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number of rooms or windows
- How easy the joints are to reach
- How much there is to do
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
What we need to know
To make quoting easier, please include:
- The address or postcode of the job
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that is easier. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll explain what’s involved and give you a clear price.
How it works
Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Outside jobs in Scadabhagh need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.
Related advice
Can I do it myself?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
