Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Plocrapool, Na h-Eileanan Siar
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Plocrapool? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
Bathroom resealing in Plocrapool
It is not only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. If you have two layers of silicone, both failing and smears of silicone across the tiles, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How the visit works
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. The job generally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere like Plocrapool may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit

- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Bathroom resealing around Plocrapool
Plocrapool is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Around Plocrapool, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Whether the job is in Plocrapool itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Common questions in Plocrapool
Do you cover Plocrapool for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Plocrapool is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.
Is bathroom resealing in Plocrapool guaranteed?
All our work, in Plocrapool and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What colours of sealant can you use?
There’s a choice: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We will talk it through when we quote.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Plocrapool.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The size of the job
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Mould in or behind the old joints
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.
What we need to know
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- The type of property
- Whether it has been sealed before
- What’s wrong with the joints now
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we will explain what’s involved before giving you a price.
What the job involves on each surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Baths
Acrylic baths give a little under load, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Wet rooms
- Sinks & splashbacks
Why it’s worth doing now in Plocrapool
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Should I try it myself first?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
