Bathroom resealing in Na h-Eileanan an Iar
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Na h-Eileanan an Iar. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. Typical jobs include black spots spreading through the bead and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop, on shower trays & enclosures, baths and sinks & splashbacks.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Na h-Eileanan an Iar?
Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Steamy rooms that do not dry out give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
Around Na h-Eileanan an Iar, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Leave it or put it right?
Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which matters if you’re letting a property or selling it. Lumpy sealant with smears on the tiles has the opposite effect. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Honest limits
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Bathroom resealing around Na h-Eileanan an Iar

Whether the job is in Na h-Eileanan an Iar itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Surface by surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, including a food-safe sealant where that is needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.
Baths
The long joint down the side of a bath is where most leaks start, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water can’t sit on it.
What happens on the day
All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere like Na h-Eileanan an Iar may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Yes, we can. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.
