Bathroom resealing in Hounslow

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

About our bathroom resealing in Hounslow

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are leaks into the floor or ceiling below and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone.

Hard London water leaves limescale on sealant, grout and taps alike. For a bathroom or kitchen in Hounslow, getting the joints right keeps water where it belongs and the room looking clean.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we look over the joints with you first. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. For a job in Hounslow, parking and access are the things to plan: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor we’re working on and whether there’s a lift.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Baths

A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so we fill it with water before sealing. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point.

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.

How to look after the new joints

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The amount of work
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.

Helping us quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The rough size of the job
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

For a quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You will have a clear quote before work begins.

When something else is needed

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

Hounslow homes and their sealant

London’s water is hard, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and taps, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. In a London flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal can reach the neighbours below, which is why it’s worth fixing early.

Managing a site like Meadhurst Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you live in an older home near Church of St Dunstan, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

FAQs for Hounslow

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Sunbury station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Hounslow?

In much of London, parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot, so mention what’s available when you book.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we are fully insured.

Will there be a smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Opening a window helps.

Do I have to be there?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

Will it make a mess?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Hounslow

With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone

If you let a flat or house near Sunbury station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
