Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Hillstreet, Hampshire
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing for homes and businesses in Hillstreet and across Hampshire. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
About our bathroom resealing in Hillstreet
Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. If you’re dealing with gaps where the bath or tray has moved and smears of silicone across the tiles, we can help, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands alike.
For a small place like Hillstreet, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee in Hillstreet and across Hampshire.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Hillstreet?
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.
People normally contact us when they notice something like this:
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
If you live in an older home near St Anne's, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
What your quote should include
- What product goes in the joint
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- What the cure time is
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are

Leave it or put it right?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. In a small place like Hillstreet, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins.

What happens on the day
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower for a typical job. For a village or hamlet like Hillstreet, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Surface by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone will not last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.
Wet rooms
Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans off the bead. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.
Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
Hillstreet homes and their sealant
Hillstreet is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you let a flat or house near Totton station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Schools such as Calmore Junior School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
