Mr Mastic applicator sealing the vertical joint between a glass shower screen and tiled wall

How the visit works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere as small as Empshott, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The amount of work

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • If someone has resealed it before

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and add photos by email if you can.

Bathroom resealing in Empshott: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around Church of the Holy Rood, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What sealant work can’t fix

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Can I do it myself?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Empshott?

Baths and trays move. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt

Letting a property close to Liss station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

FAQs for Empshott

Is Empshott within the area you cover?

Yes. Empshott is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Empshott?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Empshott is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Will there be a smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Ventilation helps.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location, plus pictures if you have them. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before applying anything new.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Why act early in Empshott

A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Older cottages and farmhouses around Empshott can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.
