Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Curdridge

Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it and into the wall or floor. Our team cut the old bead out completely and lay a new one in anti-fungal sanitary silicone. Common call-outs are for black spots spreading through the bead and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, across kitchen worktops & upstands, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

For a small place like Curdridge, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower trays & enclosures

Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Basins & vanity units

Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Curdridge questions

Do you cover Curdridge for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Curdridge is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Curdridge?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

What sealant do you use?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference.

Is it messy?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.

What should I tell you?

A short description and the location. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.

My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?

Yes, we can. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Do I need to be at home?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.

What we do, step by step

When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. In a small place like Curdridge, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

What we are called out for in Curdridge

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Steamy rooms that do not dry out give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead

Letting a property close to Botley station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Before booking anyone

  • Who turns up on the day
  • How long the guarantee is
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Whether they’re fully insured

Choosing a sealant specialist

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

If you manage several properties in or around Curdridge, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

Can I do it myself?

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Curdridge

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The size of the job

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Roughly how big the job is

Call for a quick quote, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work before giving you a price.

Bathroom resealing around Curdridge

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as Curdridge Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Homes close to Church of St Peter include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Curdridge is about 3 miles east of Hedge End, in Hampshire. Anywhere in SO32, we can carry out bathroom resealing at your property. We cover 683 towns and villages across Hampshire. Our Southampton page covers work nearby (7 miles or so).

We also cover Curbridge (1 mile south), Botley (2 miles west), Durley (2 miles north-west), Boorley Green (2 miles west) and Waltham Chase (2 miles north-east). What happens if it’s left?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, turning a small job into a building repair. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Curdridge, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.
