Bathroom resealing in Crow's Green

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. Common call-outs are for black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and gaps where the bath or tray has moved, across basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

Being in a small place like Crow's Green makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Crow's Green and across Essex.

Why deal with it now?

Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead will not last. In a small place like Crow's Green, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

What sealant work can’t fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Whether it has been sealed before

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, with a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows.

What should I tell you?

Tell us what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Crow's Green

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

In the older streets around Church of St James, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What we’re called out for in Crow's Green

With age, silicone loses its stretch. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt

Letting a property close to Braintree station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

How to choose a mastic man

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.

Sinks & splashbacks

Next to the sink, the sealant has to cope with constant water, including a food-safe sealant where that is needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.

The process

Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and tidy away. It generally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere as small as Crow's Green, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
