Bathroom resealing near Clatterford End

Can I do it myself?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Bathroom resealing in Clatterford End, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Clatterford End. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & upstands and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are damp behind the bath or under the tray and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off.

Somewhere as small as Clatterford End, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Clatterford End

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

We also work for property managers and facilities teams. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured for the work.

What affects the quote in Clatterford End

You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:

  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number and length of the joints

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will talk you through it.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The address or postcode of the job

If you’re in Clatterford End and need bathroom resealing, call 0345 464 0079 or email us. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and we will agree the price before any work begins.

Different surfaces, different methods

Basins & vanity units

On a basin, neatness shows: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop.

What sealant work cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What happens on the day

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and we explain the cure time before we leave. In a small place like Clatterford End, access is normally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Mention any tricky access
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Clatterford End

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

The problems people normally mention when they call are:

  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below

In the older streets around Church of St Nicholas, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Common questions in Clatterford End

Can you do bathroom resealing in Clatterford End?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Clatterford End is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we will send you a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Clatterford End?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Clatterford End, along with the rest of our area.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Is it worth trying it myself?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, old sealant removal included. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.

Can tenants book the work?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
