Chuck Hatch Bathroom Resealing
Baths, showers and worktops in Chuck Hatch need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray

- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- The type of sealant required
- Access and height
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- The rough size of the job
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details and send pictures if you have them.
How we handle bathroom resealing in Chuck Hatch
The bead of silicone around a bath, tray or worktop is what keeps water out of the gaps. Once it cracks or goes mouldy, water starts to find its way through and into the wall or floor. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. If you’re dealing with a joint torn by a bath that flexes and damp behind the bath or under the tray, we can help, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms alike.
Somewhere as small as Chuck Hatch, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

Leave it or put it right?
Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it won’t bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it. Older cottages and farmhouses around Chuck Hatch can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
What it costs depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Chuck Hatch?
Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
If you let a flat or house near Ashurst Kent station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Before booking anyone

Sinks & splashbacks
Next to the sink, the sealant has to cope with constant water, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.
Chuck Hatch homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
Treat the new bead gently when you clean: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
The process
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere as small as Chuck Hatch, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
