Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Chilworth, Southampton
Bathroom resealing across Chilworth and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a one-year guarantee.
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Chilworth
Homes in Chilworth have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. If you have two layers of silicone, both failing and water getting behind the bath panel, we can help.
In a village or hamlet like Chilworth, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

How we quote for bathroom resealing
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Working hours on commercial sites
- How easy the joints are to reach
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

What happens on the day
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. For a village or hamlet like Chilworth, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, which is generally around 24 hours. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
DIY versus a professional finish
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Chilworth?
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
Look out for these signs:
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
Schools such as Cantell School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Chilworth: your questions answered
Will you come out to Chilworth?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
I let a flat near Swaythling station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what we are using.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. More than one area can go on one quote.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
Allow a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
Is it worth trying it myself?
That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
For landlords and businesses
We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Chilworth and across Southampton. Several sites can be quoted together.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
