Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Germain, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Bovinger

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. Typical jobs include water escaping at the shower enclosure and two layers of silicone, both failing, across baths, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units.

In a village or hamlet like Bovinger, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Bovinger as everywhere else we work.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Bovinger

You will get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

We quote each job on its own. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and describe the job, and pictures are welcome.

What happens on the day

At the end, we look at the finished work together. The work normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, depending on the size of the job. In a small place like Bovinger, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Clear the area around the work

Advice

Should I try it myself first?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Bovinger?

Baths and trays move. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Andrew's CofE Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Choosing a sealant specialist

What sealant work cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

Leave it or put it right?

Dealing with sealant early is a short job: it takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Bovinger, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Doing several joints on one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.

What you get with us

  • Colour picked to suit the job
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • Homes, businesses and hotels

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is usually around 24 hours. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
