Quotes for regrouting in Wyddial

There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Access and height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

What to tell us for a quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • The rough size of the job
  • The address or postcode of the job

How we handle regrouting in Wyddial

We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on wet rooms, tiled floors and bathroom floors, and common reasons people get in touch are dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and shower grout that has worn away.

Homes around Wyddial are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

Our work is backed for twelve months, in Wyddial and everywhere else we cover.

Wyddial homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to Church of St Giles include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Schools such as Layston Church of England First School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What sealant work can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A leaking wet room membrane
  • Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

FAQs for Wyddial

Is Wyddial within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

What guarantee comes with regrouting in Wyddial?

All our work, in Wyddial and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Can you regrout just the shower?

We can. We will check the other tiled areas as well and tell you if anything else needs attention.

How much does regrouting cost in Wyddial?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. We agree the price before any work begins.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels, and we’re fully insured.

Is it worth trying it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Surface by surface

Corners and edges

Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.

Bathroom wall tiles

Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.

What happens on the day

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere as small as Wyddial, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • Mention any parking rules near the property

Advice

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Why deal with it now?

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Wyddial, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
