Wrabness Regrouting
Problem with your tiled areas in Wrabness? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a one-year guarantee.
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Floor grout that will not come clean
How the job changes by surface
Shower walls
Most regrouting jobs include a shower. Cracked or missing grout here lets water behind the tiles.
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.
Regrouting in Wrabness, done properly
We check the tiles before any grout comes out. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We are often asked to deal with cracked or crumbling grout lines and grout washed out of a shower, on tiled floors, bathroom wall tiles and kitchen splashbacks.
Around Wrabness, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

What else we do in Wrabness
What we do, step by step
There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room for a typical job. In a small place like Wrabness, access is generally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
How to prepare

Regrouting around Wrabness
Wrabness is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you live in an older home near Parish Church of All Saints, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Wrabness station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
Wrabness is about 4 miles west of Harwich, in Essex. Wrabness gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Across Essex, we cover 644 places, Wrabness among them. You can also see our page for Chelmsford, roughly 32 miles from Wrabness.
We work across the CO11 postcode area for regrouting. Whether your property is on Station Road, Nightingale Road and Wigeon Drive or a nearby road, we can help. What affects the cost of regrouting
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The type of sealant required
- The number and length of the joints
- The number of rooms or windows
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will talk you through it.
Helping us quote
To help us quote quickly, let us know:
- If someone has resealed it before
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The type of property
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details.
Why deal with it now?
If tiles are loose, regrouting alone isn’t the answer. We’ll tell you before work begins so you know what’s involved. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. Older cottages and farmhouses around Wrabness can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
Why Wrabness clients choose us
- ARBOMaster approved applicator
- We never seal over old sealant
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
- Fully insured
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
Should I try it myself first?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Wrabness questions
Do you cover Wrabness for regrouting?
Yes, Wrabness is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
I let a flat near Wrabness station. Can you help?

Will there be a smell?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.
What sealant do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.
Do you grout the corners?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly, and grout there cracks.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
You get our 12-month guarantee on every job. We’re also fully insured.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Wrabness?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we’ll talk you through it.
