Touchen-end Regrouting
Tiled areas in Touchen-end need attention? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly.
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
Touchen-end homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Schools such as Holyport College are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Letting a property close to Maidenhead station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Regrouting in Touchen-end
Grout fills the gaps between tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. We rake it out and replace it, then reseal the corners and edges. We are often asked to deal with grout that’s cracking and breaking up and grout in corners that has cracked, on shower walls, bathroom floors and tiled floors.
Homes around Touchen-end are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Touchen-end and everywhere else we cover.

Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
Corners and edges
Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.
When something else is needed
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Cracked or broken tiles
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we seal
- Wet rooms
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
- Shower walls
Should I try it myself first?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Touchen-end and across Windsor and Maidenhead. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured.

What happens on the day
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area for a typical job. In a small place like Touchen-end, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Getting ready for the visit
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Older cottages and farmhouses around Touchen-end can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Bigger jobs take longer.

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You’ll get a clear quote before we start.
Are you insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured for domestic and commercial work.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or just the joints that have failed.
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. We cover Touchen-end and the rest of Windsor and Maidenhead, along with the rest of our area.
Looking after it afterwards
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.
