Regrouting in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire
Specialist regrouting for Stonehouse: careful preparation, the right product and tidy work. Ask us for a quick quote.
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
How we handle regrouting in Stonehouse
Grout fills the gaps between tiles, while sealant goes where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. We rake it out and replace it, then reseal the corners and edges. Common call-outs are for floor grout that won’t come clean and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean, on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and tiled floors.
A bathroom in a place like Stonehouse gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

When it is not the sealant
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A floor or wall that keeps moving
- A leaking wet room membrane
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
What we do, step by step
There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room for a typical job. Outside jobs in Stonehouse need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Common problems we fix in Stonehouse
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
If you let a flat or house near Larkhall station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What affects the cost of regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- The type of sealant required
- The amount of work
- The number of rooms or windows
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- A few pictures by email, if you can
Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.
Questions from Stonehouse
Do you cover Stonehouse for regrouting?
Yes, Stonehouse is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Do you cover smaller places like Stonehouse?
Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Silicone. Grout is for the joints between tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.
Do I have to be there?
That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. We cover Stonehouse and the rest of South Lanarkshire.
What does regrouting cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. For a quick quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing and where.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.
What the job involves on each surface
Shower walls
The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout, and reseal the corners.
Bathroom floors
Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.
Landlord and commercial work in Stonehouse
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

What regrouting looks like in Stonehouse
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
For an older house near a landmark such as Stonehouse Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
