How we handle regrouting in Skeete
Across Skeete, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. If you’re dealing with stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and floor grout that has worn and darkened, we can help.
In a village or hamlet like Skeete, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

Skeete questions
Is Skeete within the area you cover?
Yes, Skeete is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you cover Skeete for regrouting?
Yes, Skeete is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
What information do you need?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few photos.
What does regrouting cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a short description of the job.
Can you regrout just the shower?
We can. We will look at the rest of the room too and tell you if anything else needs attention.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
Our 12-month guarantee applies to all our work, and we’re fully insured.
Why deal with it now?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Older cottages and farmhouses around Skeete can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first.

How we quote for regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The type of sealant required
- The size of the job
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- The address or postcode of the job
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll take it from there.
Regrouting in Skeete: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

The process
We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere as small as Skeete, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice
Surface by surface
Wet rooms
New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.
Looking after it afterwards
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers because they wear grout away.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left for a few years, they can become a leak so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.
What we’re called out for in Skeete
Grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down and showers that get daily use suffer most.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Stowting Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
Questions to ask before you book
- What insurance they hold
- When the joint can take water or movement
- How long the guarantee is
- What preparation is included
Honest limits
Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:
- Cracked or broken tiles
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
