About our regrouting in Puttenham
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the discolouration has normally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. If you’re dealing with good tiles let down by tired grout and grout washed out of a shower, we can help, whatever the surface.
In a village or hamlet like Puttenham, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will give you a quote.
Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in Puttenham and across Hertfordshire. We can quote a run of properties together.
What regrouting looks like in Puttenham
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Homes close to Church of St Mary (Church of England) include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Cheddington station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What affects the cost of regrouting
You will get a clear quote before we start. It takes into account:
- How many areas need sealing
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Access and height
- The number and length of the joints
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.
What we need to know
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- If someone has resealed it before
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To get started, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
How the visit works
On the day, we look over the joints with you first, so you know exactly what we are doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. The work generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a small place like Puttenham, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Why act early in Puttenham
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. Older cottages and farmhouses around Puttenham can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
Why choose Mr Mastic in Puttenham

Questions from Puttenham
Do you cover smaller places like Puttenham?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you work for landlords with property near Cheddington station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.
Do I have to be there?
We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
We usually do. New grout beside old sealant wouldn’t look right and could still leak.
Will it make a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
Have any tile that moves checked straight away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.
Surface by surface
Bathroom floors
Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It wears and darkens over time.
Corners and edges
The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.
