Regrouting in Old Windsor, Windsor and Maidenhead
Our applicators work in Old Windsor on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
What happens if it’s left?
New grout smeared over the old doesn’t bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. In a smaller place like Old Windsor, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Regrouting in Old Windsor
Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. You might go from white to grey or back again. Just mention the colour you’d like when you phone 0345 464 0079 or email us. We’re often asked to deal with gaps where the shower grout has gone and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, across kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and tiled floors.
Smaller places like Old Windsor still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and the area is left clean. A visit to Old Windsor is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Aftercare tips
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
Have any tile that moves checked right away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom wall tiles
Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.
Bathroom floors
If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We check the tiles before regrouting.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Do you work for landlords with property near Sunnymeads station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
How long will you be here?
It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We’ll give you a better idea when we quote.
Do you grout the corners?
We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.

Regrouting in Old Windsor: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Homes close to St Luke include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Schools such as King's Court First School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Sunnymeads station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What affects the cost of regrouting
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The product the joint needs
- Whether the work is at height
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.

We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details.
