What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Where we work in Nursling

  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms

Regrouting in Nursling, done properly

We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. Common call-outs are for grout stained black or orange that won’t clean and grout that makes sound tiles look old, across bathroom wall tiles, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom floors.

Even in a smaller place like Nursling, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Nursling as everywhere else we work.

Questions from Nursling

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Redbridge station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you cover smaller places like Nursling?

Yes. Nursling is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Normally, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone and doing both at once leaves everything sound.

Will you leave a mess?

We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

What information do you need?

Tell us what needs doing and where. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Which products do you use?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.

What happens on the day

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. A visit to Nursling is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Before we arrive

Advice

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
  • Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away, so regrouting early can save a retile.

When to call us in Nursling

Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that’s hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Stained grout that cleaning will not shift

If you look after a building such as Nursling Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What to look for in a quote

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • Whether they’re fully insured

Our hiring checklist

What the job involves on each surface

Bathroom wall tiles

Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. New grout freshens them up.

Bathroom floors

Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It wears and darkens over time.

Why deal with it now?

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They won’t fill gaps or keep water out, and stains can show through again. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. In an older home around Nursling, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Quotes for regrouting in Nursling

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • The type of sealant required
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Nursling homes and their sealant

Nursling is within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Rented homes near Redbridge station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. For an older house near a landmark such as Lord's Hill Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
