Regrouting in Normandy

Regrouting in Normandy

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so nothing is ripped out. We are often asked to deal with crumbling grout between the tiles and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, on wet rooms, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks.

Being in a small place like Normandy makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

What regrouting looks like in Normandy

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Wyke Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Wanborough station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Normandy is about 4 miles east of Aldershot, in Surrey. We provide regrouting to homeowners, landlords and businesses in Normandy, as part of our work across Surrey. Our Surrey coverage runs to 395 places, and Normandy is one of them. Our Reading page covers work nearby, about 19 miles away.

All of GU3 is covered for regrouting. We cover properties on Manor Farm Close, Guildford Road and Milton Close and the roads around them. Other places close to Normandy include Willey Green (1 mile east), Flexford (1 mile south), Christmas Pie (1 mile south), Wyke (1 mile west) and Wanborough (2 miles south). We also work in nearby towns such as Guildford (4 miles east), Woking (6 miles north-east), Camberley (6 miles north-west), Farnham (6 miles south-west), Egham (13 miles north-east) and Walton-on-Thames (14 miles north-east).

What’s near Normandy

In Normandy, that means homes and buildings near Duke of Normandy pub, among other places. The closest station to Normandy is Wanborough station, roughly 0.7 miles south. A little further out are Ash Museum (2.1 miles west) and Guildford Hospital (2.6 miles east). Green spaces nearby include Hog's Back and Ash Ranges.

Can I do it myself?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

How we quote for regrouting

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number and length of the joints

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The type of property
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

For regrouting in Normandy, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and we will agree the price before any work begins.

Common questions in Normandy

Is Normandy within the area you cover?

Yes, Normandy is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you work for landlords with property near Wanborough station?

Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes, that is common. The shower generally fails first, so many people regrout just that part.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We will point them out at the start.

Can I do it myself?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes. We’ve worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we are fully insured.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Normandy.

When to call us in Normandy

Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble and showers that get daily use suffer most.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old

In the older streets around Church of St Mark, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Comparing quotes

  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Whether they’re fully insured

10 questions to ask before booking

What the job involves on each surface

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.

Bathroom floors

Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.

The process

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Normandy, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

What sealant work can’t fix

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.
