Regrouting in Cannon's Green

How we handle regrouting in Cannon's Green

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. Typical jobs include grout that’s cracking and breaking up and old grout in a dated colour, on bathroom wall tiles, wet rooms and tiled floors.

Around Cannon's Green, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Cannon's Green as everywhere else we work.

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.

FAQs for Cannon's Green

What guarantee comes with regrouting in Cannon's Green?

All our work, in Cannon's Green and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Is Cannon's Green within the area you cover?

Yes. Cannon's Green is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We’ll show you which ones at the start.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. Several properties can go on one quote, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

Should I try DIY first?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status and we are fully insured too.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

How it works

Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a small place like Cannon's Green, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the work
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

Bathroom floors

Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It gets worn and dirty.

Kitchen splashbacks

Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.

What affects the quote in Cannon's Green

You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Any working-time requirements on site

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • The address or postcode of the job

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Leave it or put it right?

Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Cannon's Green, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.

Honest limits

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.

Cannon's Green homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as The Ongar Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. In the older streets around Church of St Nicholas, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
