Regrouting for Bisley homes and businesses

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

How we handle regrouting in Bisley

Before any work starts, the tiles are checked. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout can’t fix a problem underneath. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. Typical jobs include splashback grout that has darkened and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned, on wet rooms, tiled floors and bathroom wall tiles.

In a smaller place like Bisley, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do in a big town.

A 12-month guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

How we quote for regrouting

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • The size of the job
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Access and height
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

What to tell us for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

For regrouting in Bisley, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and we will agree the price before any work begins.

How the visit works

A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. It usually takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a smaller place like Bisley, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

Wet room grout and sealant need to be in good order. We renew both.

Corners and edges

Internal corners move, so we seal them rather than grout them.

What happens if it’s left?

Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. In a smaller place like Bisley, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What information do you need?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

How long does the job take?

A typical job takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, including preparation and clearing up. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.

Where are you based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering

We will tell you when the area can be used again. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.

Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.

For landlords and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Bisley homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you live in an older home near Church of St John the Baptist, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. For landlords with property near Brookwood station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. Schools such as Bisley CofE Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
