What affects the quote in Heart's Delight

You will get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Access and height
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The product the joint needs

Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • The type of property
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • If someone has resealed it before

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. When it suits you, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

New build mastic for homes and businesses in Heart's Delight

Building dust is behind a lot of failed new-build sealant. Each joint is cleaned of dust and primed where the product calls for it, so the new bead bonds properly instead of bonding to the dust. We work on show homes, skirting & floors and kitchens, and common reasons people get in touch are kitchen sealant that has pulled off the wall and joints pulling apart as timber shrinks.

Somewhere as small as Heart's Delight, new homes tend to be conversions, self-builds or a few houses rather than an estate. Each still needs its sealant and floor joints finished properly.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Common problems we fix in Heart's Delight

Sealant is often one of the last jobs before handover. Joints are not always cleaned of dust or primed, and the sealant sits on grit instead of the surface.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Sealant work across a run of new homes
  • Gaps between new skirting and floors
  • New-build shower sealant that has already split
  • Beads laid onto grit and dust from the build

For new homes near Snowdown station, it’s worth checking the sealant early, while snags are still fresh.

Choosing a sealant specialist

Heart's Delight: your questions answered

Is Heart's Delight within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Snowdown station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before work begins.

What information do you need?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Is it messy?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Where do you work from?

Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Will you just run a new bead over the existing one?

No. Sealing over old sealant looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove every bit of the old bead before resealing.

How long should I leave it?

Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We’ll tell you how long to leave the joint.

Do you use white or clear sealant?

White and clear are the most common, but sealant comes in other colours too. We match the colour to the finish and agree it with you.

Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Landlord and commercial work in Heart's Delight

If you manage several properties in or around Heart's Delight, several properties can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each, and photos by email help.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.

The process

You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots in most cases. Somewhere as small as Heart's Delight, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the joints cleaned.
  3. Joints are dried and primed where the product calls for it.
  4. New sealant goes in, with baths filled first so they’re at their heaviest.
  5. The finished joints are checked and the cure times given.

Before we arrive

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice

How to look after the new joints

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Wipe joints with warm soapy water
  • Don’t wait for the house to settle if water is getting through
  • Raise failed sealant with the developer while you’re covered
  • Keep water off fresh sealant until it has cured

Leave the sealant for the cure time we give you before showering or bathing. Silicone is generally left for about a day to cure enough for use.

A failed seal in a new home lets water into joists, plasterboard and ceilings. Catching it early keeps the fix to the sealant.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant will not fix:

  • Your warranty claim itself, which is between you and the builder
  • Baths and trays that move too much for sealant to cope with
  • Broken tiles or a split tray

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
