Need new build mastic in Cowfold?

New build mastic in Cowfold, done properly

We work in new homes and on new-build sites across Cowfold. One shower or a whole phase of plots, the method doesn’t change: remove, clean, prime where needed, then a neat new bead. If you are dealing with sealant that never bonded to the surface and cracked sealant around new window and door frames, we can put it right, on windows & doors, plot handovers and kitchens alike.

In a village or hamlet like Cowfold, new homes are more likely to be a barn conversion or a handful of houses than a big estate. Every one needs its sealant and floor joints done properly, whatever the size of the site.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Follow the cure time we give you
  • Use the extractor fan every time you shower
  • Clean sealant with mild detergent, not abrasives
  • Resist patching a failed seal with a tube from the DIY shop

Keep photos of the joints and any snagging correspondence with your builder. It’s useful if you need to raise other issues later.

A failed seal in a new home lets water into joists, plasterboard and ceilings. Early resealing keeps the job small and the new finishes intact.

Leave it or put it right?

For developers, getting the sealant right first time saves return visits. Snagging visits for failed sealant cost time on every plot. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Cowfold, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Why us?

  • White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
  • Full insurance on every job
  • More than 20 years in sealant work
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

See our cost guide or what customers say.

When something else is needed

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before work begins. It won’t solve:

  • Cracking that points to a structural problem
  • A tray or bath that isn’t properly supported, until it’s fixed
  • Disputes or warranty claims with your builder

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Windows & doors
  • Skirting & floors
  • Bathrooms & en suites
  • Show homes
  • Plot handovers
  • Kitchens

What we do, step by step

On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before work begins. The work normally takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on the number of plots. In a small place like Cowfold, access is normally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We start by going through the snagging items or plot schedule with you.
  2. The failed sealant is removed completely.
  3. Joints are vacuumed and cleaned of building dust.
  4. Primer goes on where the surface and product need it, then the new sealant.
  5. Each bead is tooled and the cure times explained.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

What affects the cost of new build mastic

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • The amount of work
  • The type of sealant required
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

What to tell us for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

Every job is quoted individually. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and describe the job and send photos if you have them.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Do you need new build mastic in Cowfold?

Once people move in, baths and trays take weight and bed down. A bath sealed empty drops slightly when filled, straining the joint and the sealant may split.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Kitchen sealant that has pulled off the wall
  • New-build shower sealant that has already split
  • Sealant applied over dusty or wet surfaces
  • Second-fix sealing on new plots

Around Cowfold, as everywhere, new build mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.
