Gutter sealing in Preston, done properly
Failed sealant round a garage door frame lets rain blow in. We cut out the old sealant and reseal the frame with an exterior sealant. Typical jobs include open joints in fascias and soffits and garage door frames letting rain in, across gutter joints, gutter end caps and garage door frames.
External sealant needs dry, clean surfaces, so work around Preston is planned for dry weather. Let us know about access to every wall, plus any garages or outbuildings.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

What else we do in Preston
What happens if it’s left?
Sealant will not clear a blocked downpipe. We look at what’s really happening and tell you if something else is needed. In a small place like Preston, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

What gutter sealing looks like in Preston
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. Historic houses like Goodnestone Park (about 4 miles south) are a reminder that the area around Preston has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Preston Primary School, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. In the older streets around Church of St Mildred, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

The process
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it generally takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. In a small place like Preston, access is generally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- We clean out each joint.
- We make sure everything is dry.
- The sealant is applied and finished.
- We check our work before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the joints
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Preston questions
Do you work for landlords with property near Adisham station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.
Is Preston in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes, Preston is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Which products do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
What does gutter sealing cost?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a short description of the job.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
What should I tell you?
Let us know what needs doing and where. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?
Not for long. The movement opens the joint again, so the fall and brackets need sorting first.
DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Keeping the joints in good condition
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Deal with a drip before winter
- Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
- Keep the gutters clear of debris
- Check that water runs out of the downpipes
If a gutter starts to sag, get the brackets looked at. If it drops, the joints will open.
A drip from a gutter joint won’t stop on its own. The same spot gets soaked every time it rains, which can lead to staining and damp.
What we are called out for in Preston
Leaves and moss hold water in the gutter. Standing water finds the weakest joint and leaks out.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
- Trim joints where the sealant has failed
- Water dripping where gutter sections meet
For landlords with property near Adisham station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
