Outside joints around Lacasaidh
Lacasaidh is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.
Around Lacasaidh, as everywhere, gutter sealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Lacasaidh is in Na h-Eileanan Siar. Lacasaidh gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Lacasaidh is one of 87 towns and villages in Na h-Eileanan Siar where we work for gutter sealing.
Our applicators cover all of HS2 for gutter sealing and the streets around it. If you are just outside Lacasaidh, we cover Baile Ailein (3 miles west), Liurbost (3 miles north-east), North Lochs (4 miles north-east), Crosbost (4 miles north-east) and Marybank (9 miles north-east). For island and remote addresses, a little more planning is needed.

Gutter sealing in Lacasaidh
Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. We seal them in a colour to suit where one is available. If you are dealing with trim joints where the sealant has failed and stop ends leaking at the end of a run, we can put it right, on gutter joints, gutter end caps and garage door frames alike.
In and around a place like Lacasaidh, many buildings face open ground and take the full weather. Outside joints on exposed walls work hard.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we’re called out for in Lacasaidh
Sagging sections pull joints apart. Sealing will not hold if the gutter keeps dropping so the brackets need attention first.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
- Leaking gutter joints and stop ends
- Trim joints where the sealant has failed
For an older house near a landmark such as Kinloch Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

Lacasaidh questions
Can you do gutter sealing in Lacasaidh?
Yes, Lacasaidh is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.
Will you come out to Lacasaidh?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Do you offer different sealant colours?
Yes. Sealants come in white, clear, grey and other colours, and we will agree it with you first.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.
Will sealing fix a sagging gutter?
Not for long. The joint will pull apart so the gutter has to be refixed first.
Why act early in Lacasaidh
New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. Where the gutter is in good order and only a joint leaks a reseal is all it needs. If it has failed, we will tell you. In a place like Lacasaidh, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask about the job first.

Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Check that water runs out of the downpipes
- Deal with a drip before winter
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
While checking gutters, glance at the fascia joints too. A small split is quicker to put right.
The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We will let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.
Quotes for gutter sealing in Lacasaidh
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- Access and height
- When we can work, for business premises
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The old material and how stubborn it is
The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
Helping us quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the job is, and your postcode

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Water backing up from a blocked pipe
- Problems with the roof covering
- Gutters that have dropped or pulled away
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.

How it works
When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
- Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
- The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
- An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we are there.
How to prepare
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Related advice
Should I try it myself first?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
