Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Kirby Cross

We do not replace gutters, fascias or roofs. What sealant does is close joints and it can’t mend broken brackets, split sections or blocked downpipes. If you’re dealing with rain getting in around a garage door and earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off, we can put it right, on garage door frames, gutter end caps and gutter joints alike.

Outbuildings, garages and conservatories around homes in places like Kirby Cross add more joints to look after. Gutter ends, garage door frames and the joints where an extension meets the house are typical spots for leaks.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

What affects the quote in Kirby Cross

You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • The type of sealant required
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Access and height
  • How many areas need sealing

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The type of property

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.

Why deal with it now?

Sealant won’t clear a blocked downpipe. We look at what’s really happening and tell you if something else is needed. In an older home around Kirby Cross, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What sealant work can’t fix

  • Blocked downpipes

FAQs for Kirby Cross

Will you come out to Kirby Cross?

Yes. Kirby Cross is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Kirby Cross?

Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. Walls facing the sea are normally the first to need attention.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.

What do you put in the joint?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully insured.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

In most cases you can choose. We will tell you which colours the right product comes in and agree one before work begins.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.

What we do, step by step

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it normally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In a smaller place like Kirby Cross, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
  2. The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
  3. We make sure the joint is dry before sealing.
  4. Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
  5. We check the run and clear any debris we find while we are there.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

How to get a quote

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you’re ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Advice

Should I try it myself first?

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Gutter sealing in Kirby Cross: local notes

Kirby Cross is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. With historic houses such as Thorpe Hall (about 3 miles west) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Kirby Cross as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material.

Rented homes near Frinton-On-Sea station change hands often, and leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Frinton-on-Sea Primary School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s. If you live in an older home near St Mary Magdalene, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.

How to look after the new joints

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Rest ladders on the wall, not the gutter
  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
  • Look at the gutters while it’s raining

Give the sealant the cure time we tell you before poking or cleaning near it.

A leaking stop end is best sealed before the wet months. A winter of drips can lead to damp patches inside.

What the job involves on each surface

Gutter end caps

A leaking end cap sends water straight down the wall. It’s a quick reseal.

Gutter joints

Most gutter leaks start at a joint between sections. They’re cleaned out, dried and resealed.
