Gutter sealing for Hoe homes and businesses

Hoe: your questions answered

Will you come out to Hoe?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you do gutter sealing in Hoe?

Yes, Hoe is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing.

Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?

Yes. Open joints along uPVC fascias and soffits can be sealed in a matching colour.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

How long does gutter sealing take?

Typically it takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Larger jobs naturally take longer.

How long before the joint can be used?

Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We’ll tell you how long to leave the joint before we leave.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Hoe

A leaking gutter joint marks the wall and wets the ground underneath. Resealing the joint is often all it needs if the gutter is not damaged. If you have dripping gutter ends and old sealant on roofline trims that has split, we can put it right.

Older homes in small places like Hoe may be stone, brick or timber-framed, often with later extensions. The joints where those materials meet are the weak points.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Sagging gutters or broken brackets
  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Why act early in Hoe

Water from a leaking joint hits the same spot every time. Left, it can stain walls and lead to damp so early sealing is worthwhile. In a small place like Hoe, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • The type of sealant required
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether the work is at height

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • The rough size of the job

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. Photos by email help us understand the job.

Outside joints around Hoe

With historic houses such as Hatchlands Park (about 4 miles north) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Hoe as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material. Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.

For landlords with property near Gomshall station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. Homes close to Church of St Mark include some older properties, and old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep.

What we do, step by step

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The work normally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, depending on the amount of work. For a village or hamlet like Hoe, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
  3. We make sure everything is dry.
  4. We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
  5. We check our work before we leave.

Advice

DIY versus a professional finish

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Surface by surface

Soffit joints

Soffit board joints can separate over time. We seal them to close the gaps.

Gutter end caps

Stop ends hold back water at the end of a run. A failed seal makes them leak.
