Glazing silicone for homes and businesses in Dragons Green
Glazing joints need a sealant made for glass. We use a neutral-cure glazing silicone that is suited to glass and the frame, finished with a neat, even bead. We work on rooflights, glass-to-glass joints and glass balustrade bases, and people most often call us about leaks where conservatory glass meets the frame and split or lifting silicone on glass.
Around Dragons Green, many homes face open ground, so their windows and doors take the full weather. Exposed frames and sills lose their mastic sooner than sheltered ones.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

How we quote for glazing silicone
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
- How easy the joints are to reach
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
What we need to know
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Where the property is
- The type of property
- How we’d reach the joints
Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand.
FAQs for Dragons Green
Will you come out to Dragons Green?
Yes, Dragons Green is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you work for landlords with property near Billingshurst station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
How long should I leave it?
Cure times vary by product and the temperature. Before we leave, we’ll tell you the cure time.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, every time. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
What information do you need?
Tell us what needs doing and where, with pictures by email if possible. We will ask anything else we need to know.
Should I try DIY first?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Dragons Green and the rest of West Sussex, along with the rest of our area.
Why deal with it now?
You don’t need new glazing because the sealant has gone. Sound glass and frames normally just need resealing. In a small place like Dragons Green, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.

What glazing silicone looks like in Dragons Green
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
For an older house near a landmark such as The Church of St Mary the Virgin, the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall. For landlords with property near Billingshurst station, a shower screen or conservatory joint that leaks is easier to reseal while the property is empty.

What we do, step by step
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. It normally takes a few hours for most jobs. For a village or hamlet like Dragons Green, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We find where water is getting in and check whether it’s a sealant joint.
- Old silicone is cut away from the glass and frame without scratching either.
- Surfaces are cleaned with a solvent suited to glass and the frame.
- New glazing silicone goes in and is tooled to a neat finish.
- The finished joints are checked and, where it’s safe, tested with water.
How to prepare
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

When it isn’t the sealant
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- A broken pane or roof panel
- Failed flashing around a conservatory
- A frame that needs repairing or replacing
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Common problems we fix in Dragons Green
Silicone won’t bond to a dirty surface. Where the joint wasn’t cleaned and degreased, the bead can peel away early.
Look out for any of the following:
- Failed joints on frameless glass
- Stained, discoloured glazing silicone
- Silicone pulling away from the glass
- Water escaping where a screen meets the wall
If you look after a building such as Shipley CofE Primary School, larger buildings have plenty of frames, and the mastic around each one ages.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- What the cure time is
- Is VAT in the price?
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Do not leave a drip for the next storm
- Clear the conservatory gutters regularly
- Keep harsh solvents off the silicone
- Open vents or windows to let moisture out
On shower screens, wipe or squeegee after use and let the room air. That slows mould growth on the bead.
If silicone on glass has cracked, water is already getting in. Resealing now is a small job, compared with repairing damaged frames or plaster.
