Floor joint sealing for homes and businesses in Hook
In commercial and industrial units, concrete floor joints take a hammering from wheels and traffic. Each is resealed with a floor-joint product suited to what runs over it. We are often asked to deal with skirting caulk that keeps splitting and concrete floor joints that have broken down, on commercial floors, wet room & bathroom floors and skirting boards.
In smaller places like Hook, new homes tend to come as small developments or single plots. Each still needs its sealant and floor joints finished properly from day one.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Floor joint sealing in Hook: local notes
Across Hampshire, floors range from older suspended timber floors to concrete slabs in newer homes and commercial units, and each moves in its own way. The joint at the skirting or threshold has to allow for that.
If you look after a church, hall or community building such as St John the Evangelist, floor and skirting joints in halls and kitchens wear like any others. Schools such as Hook Junior School are buildings too, and floor and threshold joints in busy corridors wear quickly and are best resealed early.
Hook is about 5 miles west of Fleet, in Hampshire. Hook gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Across Hampshire, we cover 683 places, Hook among them. For nearby work, see our Reading page (11 miles or so).

Quotes for floor joint sealing in Hook
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- The number of rooms or windows
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The product the joint needs
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- The address or postcode of the job
- The problem you’ve noticed
- The rough size of the job
- The type of property
We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Do not slide heavy items over sealed joints
- Avoid sloshing water against skirting
- Look at floor joints each spring
- Avoid caulk in bathrooms and kitchens
Keep off the joint for the time we give you. Light foot traffic is generally fine sooner than wet cleaning or wheels.
Concrete joints damaged by traffic get worse quickly. Sealing them early protects the edges and the floor safer.
Hook questions
Can you do floor joint sealing in Hook?
Yes, Hook is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
I let a flat near Hook station. Can you help?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.
My floor grout keeps cracking in a line. Can you help?
Often, yes, at the edges and along suitable lines. The grout is raked out and replaced with a flexible sealant in a colour to suit so the floor can move.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.
Do the sealants smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Ventilation helps.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.
Where do you work from?
Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Leave it or put it right?
Not every floor joint takes the same sealant: skirting and tiled floors need flexibility, wet areas need water resistance and concrete needs a product suited to wheels. Using the wrong one is why many floor joints fail. In an older home around Hook, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.
Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.

What we are called out for in Hook
When a tiled floor has no movement joints, the grout takes the strain. You will see a crack running along the grout, showing where a movement joint was needed.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Threshold joints that have opened or worn
- Perimeter joints in tiled floors filled with grout
- Cracked caulk along skirting in bathrooms and kitchens
- Floor edges that trap water and grime
Letting a property close to Hook station? Then a tidy floor and skirting joint helps a rental look ready for the next tenant.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- How long to leave it before use
- The length of the guarantee
Can I do it myself?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Cracked or broken concrete slabs
- Water getting under the tiles from elsewhere
- Tiles that have lifted or broken
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What happens on the day
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, depending on the length of joint. In a smaller place like Hook, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- First we check the joint and the floor and agree which sealant suits it.
- Whatever is in the joint now, whether caulk, grout or sealant, comes out.
- We clean and vacuum the joint and fit backing where the depth needs setting.
- We apply a flexible sealant, or a floor-joint product on concrete, in a suitable colour.
- Finally we tool it smooth and explain when the floor can be used and cleaned.
How to prepare
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
