Bathroom resealing in Whitesmith
We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We’re often asked to deal with water escaping at the shower enclosure and water getting behind the kitchen upstand, across wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and baths.
Somewhere as small as Whitesmith, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Honest limits
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Failed grout lines across the wall
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before booking.

Questions from Whitesmith
Do you cover smaller places like Whitesmith?
Yes. Whitesmith is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Is Whitesmith in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Whitesmith is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re ARBOMaster approved applicators.
Where are you based?
Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Is it messy?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Can tenants book the work?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes, we can. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
Clean the silicone with care: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
What happens if it’s left?
Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Whitesmith, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll talk you through it.

How it works
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Somewhere like Whitesmith needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Tell us about any water getting in

What affects the quote in Whitesmith
There’s no set price list. What we look at:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- When we can work, for business premises
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The number and length of the joints
Doing several joints on one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.
What we need to know
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- The address or postcode of the job
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- If someone has resealed it before
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Whitesmith
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
In the older streets around The Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you let a flat or house near Berwick (Sussex) station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you look after a building such as Chiddingly Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.
