Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Wavendon

A bead that has gone black, split or come away is worth sorting before it lets water through. A photo of the joints helps when you phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email, and you will get a clear quote for bathroom resealing in Wavendon. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the kitchen upstand and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt.

Somewhere as small as Wavendon, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you’re covered after we’ve gone.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Wavendon

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • If someone has resealed it before

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that is easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll explain what’s involved before giving you a price.

Surface by surface

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.

Basins & vanity units

Basin joints are short and close to eye level: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, in white, clear or a colour to suit.

What happens on the day

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Somewhere like Wavendon needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

When something else is needed

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Treat the new bead gently when you clean: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
