Common questions in The Pound
Is The Pound within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Battle station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. We cover The Pound and the rest of East Sussex, along with the rest of our area.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.
Do I need to be at home?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Bathroom resealing in The Pound, done properly
A bead that has gone black, split or come away shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. A photo of the joints helps when you call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email, and we will send you a clear quote before any work starts. We work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are two layers of silicone, both failing and black spots spreading through the bead.
For a small place like The Pound, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in The Pound
Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Roughly how big the job is
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.
Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.
What bathroom resealing looks like in The Pound
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For landlords with property near Battle station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere as small as The Pound, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Move anything stored near the joints
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Can I do it myself?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
When to call us in The Pound
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants are not designed for a joint that’s wet every day, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Common reasons people contact us are:
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
Homes close to Parish Church of St Peter include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

When it is not the sealant
In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think.
