Raploch Bathroom Resealing
Baths, showers and worktops in Raploch need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
Bathroom resealing in Raploch, done properly
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints get wet every single day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on wet rooms, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and gaps between the worktop and the wall.
For a place like Raploch, the job is the same as anywhere: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What sealant work cannot fix
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before you book.

- Basins & vanity units
How the visit works
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere like Raploch may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Mention any tricky access

Related advice
Looking after it afterwards
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
Have a look at the joints every few months. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, so if something does not look right, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Don’t wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
Surface by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. We reseal it along with the base of the enclosure, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, including a food-safe sealant where that is needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.

What affects the quote in Raploch
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- The number of rooms or windows
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before we start.
What to tell us for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- If someone has resealed it before
- A few pictures by email, if you can
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Common problems we fix in Raploch
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
Rented homes near Stirling station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Where are you based?

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. Working times can be discussed when we quote.
What do you put in the joint?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes. Every job carries our one-year guarantee.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Ventilation helps.
Bathroom resealing around Raploch
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
Schools such as Wallace High School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
