What affects the quote in Chieveley

You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Any mould that needs treating

Doing several joints on one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. Whenever you’re ready, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Bathroom resealing in Chieveley

Homes in Chieveley have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We’re often asked to deal with leaking joints on a shower screen and gaps between the worktop and the wall, on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks.

For a small place like Chieveley, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

The process

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. The job usually takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere like Chieveley needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone.

Sinks & splashbacks

Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

DIY versus a professional finish

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

What we’re called out for in Chieveley

Baths and trays move. An acrylic bath flexes under load, and a tray that isn’t fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved

Letting a property close to Newbury Racecourse station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Before booking anyone

  • What product goes in the joint
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • How long to leave it before use
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it

Our hiring checklist

Bathroom resealing in Chieveley: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Managing a site like Chieveley Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. In the older streets around Church of St Mary, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Questions from Chieveley

Do you cover Chieveley for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Chieveley is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Do you work for landlords with property near Newbury Racecourse station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, with a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.

Do I need to be at home?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
