Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Cammachmore
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Cammachmore. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. Common call-outs are for a reseal done over the top of the old bead and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal, across wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Cammachmore work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

FAQs for Cammachmore
I let a flat near Portlethen station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you cover smaller places like Cammachmore?
Yes, Cammachmore is covered. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. We cover Cammachmore and the rest of Aberdeenshire, along with the rest of our area.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What sealant do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status and we are fully insured too.
What information do you need?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.
How the visit works
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. For a place like Cammachmore, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Advice
Why deal with it now?
Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What affects the quote in Cammachmore
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- Any mould that needs treating
- When we can work, for business premises
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
Asking for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
How the job changes by surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Cammachmore?
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.
The problems people usually mention when they call include:
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
If you let a flat or house near Portlethen station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Cammachmore
Cammachmore is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Schools such as Portlethen Academy are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Have a look at the joints every few months. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something does not look right, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
