How it works
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a village or hamlet like Navestock Common, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Mention any parking rules near the property

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Navestock Common
Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. We rake it out and replace it, then reseal the corners and edges. We work on wet rooms, tiled floors and shower walls, and people most often call us about floor grout that has worn and darkened and gaps where the shower grout has gone.
Homes around Navestock Common are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

FAQs for Navestock Common
Will you come out to Navestock Common?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Harold Wood station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
We seal corners with silicone. They flex and grout cannot take that movement.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Navestock Common?
We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before we start.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, it won’t last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.
Is it worth trying it myself?
That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
How long does regrouting take?
Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Bigger jobs take longer, and we will tell you how long to expect.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.
Honest limits
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Cracked or broken tiles
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think.
What we seal
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom floors
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Shower walls
Do you need regrouting in Navestock Common?
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Floor grout that will not come clean
Rented homes near Harold Wood station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
What your quote should include
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- What product goes in the joint
- Which colour the sealant will be
- The length of the guarantee
What affects the cost of regrouting
You will get a clear quote before we start. It’s based on:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Whether the work is at height
- When we can work, for business premises
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- The address or postcode of the job
- The rough size of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now
Want a quote for regrouting? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
What the job involves on each surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on size. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Navestock Common homes and their sealant
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
In the older streets around Church of St Thomas, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Drapers' Academy, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
