Regrouting in Bac
Regrouting in Bac from a team with over 20 years’ experience. 180+ five-star Google reviews and a 4.9 rating.
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
Why act early in Bac
Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but patched grout rarely matches the rest and the old grout carries on failing. Regrouting the whole area gives an even, lasting finish. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Regrouting in Bac
We check the tiles before any grout comes out. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We work on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and floor grout that won’t come clean.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

What else we do in Bac
How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so sound grout really matters. We check the tiles first.
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
Regrouting around Bac
Bac is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
Around Bac, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Bac is in Na h-Eileanan Siar. Bac gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee. Across Na h-Eileanan Siar, we cover 87 places, Bac among them.

What we are called out for in Bac
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
For jobs in and around Bac, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

How the visit works
We bring everything the job needs with us, so you do not need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Outdoor work around Bac depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Bac: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Bac?
Yes. Bac is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is regrouting in Bac guaranteed?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, and we never do. It may look fine at first, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes. We will check the other tiled areas as well and let you know if more needs doing.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured for domestic and commercial work.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.
What does regrouting cost?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, often. Several properties can go on one quote.
