Regrouting in Aveley
If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts and you can pick a different colour while you are at it. We work on shower walls, bathroom wall tiles and kitchen splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are shower grout that has worn away and splashback grout that has darkened.
Homes around Aveley range from older cottages to more recent houses. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you’re covered after we’ve gone.

What the job involves on each surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Aveley
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Homes close to Church of St Michael include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Schools such as Ormiston Park Academy are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Aveley: your questions answered
I let a flat near Purfleet station. Can you help?
Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.
Do you cover smaller places like Aveley?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do I need to be at home?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, we often do. The shower normally fails first, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Aveley?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
All our work carries a 12-month guarantee, and we are fully insured.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
Quotes for regrouting in Aveley
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
- Access and height
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and send you a clear quote before any work starts.
Helping us quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Whether it has been sealed before
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
We don’t publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
How the visit works
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the size of the job. Parking around Aveley is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Before we arrive
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.
Advice
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Signs you need regrouting in Aveley
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, and damp grout is where mould grows. When black spots keep returning, the mould has usually got into the grout.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
Letting a property close to Purfleet station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
Questions to ask before you book
- What product goes in the joint
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Who turns up on the day
- How the colour is chosen
Looking after it afterwards
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
