Gutter sealing in Kinlochewe, done properly

Across Kinlochewe, we reseal gutter joints, end caps and roofline trims. Low-level work is straightforward, and for higher work, tell us about access and we’ll confirm what’s needed. We work on roofline trims, uPVC fascias and gutter end caps, and common reasons people get in touch are damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter and wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint.

In and around a place like Kinlochewe, many buildings face open ground and take the full weather. Gutter joints and wall joints take a battering, so they need a sealant that moves with the building.

Our work is backed for twelve months, in Kinlochewe and everywhere else we cover.

Keeping the joints in good condition

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Keep downpipes clear
  • Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
  • Keep the gutters clear of debris

Clear the gutters once or twice a year so water doesn’t sit on the joints. Standing water strains every seal.

Early sealing limits how much water hits the wall. If we find a bigger problem, we will tell you.

Kinlochewe buildings and the weather

Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Kinlochewe is in the west of Scotland, which is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for gutter, fascia and roofline joints to keep out.

For jobs in and around Kinlochewe, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. Around Kinlochewe, as everywhere, gutter sealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

The process

You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access in most cases. Somewhere like Kinlochewe may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
  2. The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
  3. The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters and outdoor use.
  5. The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

FAQs for Kinlochewe

Will you come out to Kinlochewe?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is there a guarantee on gutter sealing in Kinlochewe?

All our work, in Kinlochewe and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. We remove every bit of old sealant first, so the new sealant bonds properly.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

Do you install new fascias or gutters?

That’s not something we do. We seal joints; replacing gutters and fascias needs a gutter or roofline installer.

When it is not the sealant

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:

  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken
  • Sagging gutters or broken brackets
  • Problems with the roof covering

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • uPVC fascias
  • Soffit joints
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints
  • Gutter end caps
  • Roofline trims

DIY versus a professional finish

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Kinlochewe

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

We also work for property managers and facilities teams. We can quote a run of properties together.

How we quote for gutter sealing

We don’t publish a price list. The quote depends on:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The amount of work

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before any work starts.

What we need to know

When you call or email, these details help:

  • The type of property
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. Whenever you’re ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
