About our floor joint sealing in Worton
Concrete floors in warehouses and units have joints that take heavy wear. We reseal them with a product chosen for the movement and the traffic. We work on skirting boards, tiled floors and commercial floors, and the jobs we see most are cracked grout where a tiled floor needs a movement joint and grout used at the floor edge instead of sealant.
For a small place like Worton, the journey and access are planned in advance, and once on site, the job is the same as anywhere.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Different surfaces, different methods
Concrete floor joints
Sawn joints in concrete floors control where it cracks. They’re resealed with a product chosen for what runs over them.
Commercial floors
Floor joint work in businesses can be planned around your hours. We can arrange out-of-hours work where it’s needed.
What happens if it’s left?
Waiting until the next redecoration can mean a winter of draughts and dirt in the gaps. It’s a quick job to seal them now. Older cottages and farmhouses around Worton can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Joints and finishes in Worton homes
Across Oxfordshire, floors range from older suspended timber floors to concrete slabs in newer homes and commercial units, and each moves in its own way. The joint at the skirting or threshold has to allow for that.
For buildings such as Church of St Peter, floor and skirting joints in halls and kitchens wear like any others. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Peter's Church of England Primary School, floor and threshold joints in busy corridors wear quickly and are best resealed early.

What we are called out for in Worton
When a tiled floor has no movement joints, the grout takes the strain. You’ll see a crack running along the grout, showing where a movement joint was needed.
Look out for any of the following:
- Rigid edge joints in tiled floors
- Concrete floor joints that have broken down
- Failed seals where bathroom floors meet baths and panels
- Gaps opening between the floor and skirting
Rented homes near Hanborough station change hands often, and gaps at skirtings and thresholds are worth sealing between tenancies.
What your quote should include
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- Which colour the sealant will be
- How hidden problems are handled
- How much experience the applicator has

Worton: your questions answered
Is Worton within the area you cover?
Yes. Worton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you do floor joint sealing in Worton?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Worton is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job.
How long will you be here?
Typically it takes a few hours, depending on the length of joint. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will say how long yours will take.
Can you add a movement joint to a tiled floor?
In many cases, yes. Where a floor needs one, we rake out grout along the right line and replace it with flexible sealant. Loose or cracked tiles need a tiler first.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No, because it fails. We remove every bit of old sealant first.
What information do you need?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.

What we do, step by step
Once we’re on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours for most rooms, longer for large commercial floors. Somewhere like Worton needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First we check the joint and the floor and agree which sealant suits it.
- We take out any old caulk, sealant or grout along the line.
- We clean and vacuum the joint and fit backing where the depth needs setting.
- The sealant goes in, chosen for the floor and coloured to suit it.
- The joint is tooled to a neat finish and we tell you when it can take feet and a mop.
Before we arrive
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Mention any parking rules near the property

DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.
