Bathroom resealing near Wickstreet

Bathroom resealing in Wickstreet, done properly

It isn’t only bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. If you have splits where the tray meets the wall and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, we can help.

For a small place like Wickstreet, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Common questions in Wickstreet

Do you cover smaller places like Wickstreet?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you work for landlords with property near Berwick (Sussex) station?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details for a clear quote.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.

What do you put in the joint?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes, for 12 months. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, every time. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Good ventilation helps keep it away.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.

Different surfaces, different methods

Baths

Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Kitchen joints need more degreasing than bathroom ones, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Wickstreet

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For landlords with property near Berwick (Sussex) station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. If you look after a building such as Bede's Prep School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St Pancras, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

How to look after the new joints

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone

In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

If you manage several properties in or around Wickstreet, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

What affects the quote in Wickstreet

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • Access and height
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The size of the job
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Asking for a quote

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.

What sealant work cannot fix

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:

  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms

What we do, step by step

There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower in most cases. For a village or hamlet like Wickstreet, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
