Bathroom resealing near Mount Pleasant

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Mount Pleasant

Across Mount Pleasant, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. Typical jobs include cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and gaps where the bath or tray has moved, on sinks & splashbacks, baths and wet rooms.

Being in a small place like Mount Pleasant makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Keeping the joints in good condition

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is generally around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

Don’t wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

Bathroom resealing in Mount Pleasant: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as Barcombe Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before booking.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Mount Pleasant, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.

The process

Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it generally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere like Mount Pleasant needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Advice

Should I try it myself first?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Mount Pleasant: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Mount Pleasant?

Yes, Mount Pleasant is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is Mount Pleasant in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Mount Pleasant is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing.

Can I do it myself?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Mount Pleasant?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Usually after around 24 hours. We will tell you the cure time for the product we used.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we can. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

When to call us in Mount Pleasant

A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that isn’t fully bedded can rock. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

In the older streets around St Bartholomews, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
