Need bathroom resealing in Glynde?

DIY sealant or a professional job?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Glynde

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Glynde. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re often asked to deal with gaps between the worktop and the wall and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Around Glynde, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Glynde as everywhere else we work.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Glynde

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Letting a property close to Glynde station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Glynde is about 3 miles east of Lewes, in East Sussex. Glynde gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Glynde is one of 289 towns and villages in East Sussex we cover. You can also see our page for Brighton, about 9 miles away.

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They get anti-fungal sanitary silicone, and our work is on the visible joints only.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop.

Questions from Glynde

Is Glynde within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Glynde station?

Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes. Every job carries our 12-month guarantee.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. More than one area can be quoted together.

What does bathroom resealing cost?

Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a short description of the job.

Do the sealants smell?

Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

What do you put in the joint?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

How the visit works

There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, including the tidy-up. Somewhere as small as Glynde, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Advice

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Move toiletries away from the joint

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, which is usually around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

What affects the quote in Glynde

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The rough size of the job
  • A few pictures by email, if you can

There’s no standard price list, because every job is different. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To get started, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Common problems we fix in Glynde

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

Look out for these signs:

  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

For an older house near a landmark such as St Mary's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Before you book anyone

  • What preparation is included
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • What insurance they hold
  • How the colour is chosen
