How we handle bathroom resealing in Curbridge

Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are water getting behind the bath panel and gaps where the bath or tray has moved.

Being in a small place like Curbridge makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Curbridge

Is bathroom resealing in Curbridge guaranteed?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Is Curbridge in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Curbridge is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes, regularly. We can quote for several properties at once.

Where are you based?

Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Which products do you use?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we are using.

When to call us in Curbridge

Silicone does not last for ever. Daily water, heat and cleaning products take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray

Schools such as Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

10 questions to ask before you book

Keeping the joints in good condition

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints

Clean the silicone with care: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

The process

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere as small as Curbridge, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

How to get a quote

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Curbridge

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St John the Baptist, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
