What affects the quote in Buxted

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The type of sealant required

Combining jobs into one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

What we need to know

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the property is
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details.

How we handle bathroom resealing in Buxted

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We are often asked to deal with lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, across shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units.

For a small place like Buxted, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Why act early in Buxted

Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. In a small place like Buxted, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we do, step by step

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. It generally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. In a small place like Buxted, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

What the job involves on each surface

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line does not stand out.

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone won’t last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and if the tray needs refixing, we’ll say so.

When something else is needed

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

When to call us in Buxted

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

People normally contact us after spotting something like this:

  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

Choosing a sealant specialist

DIY versus a professional finish

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Bathroom resealing around Buxted

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around Church of St Mary the Virgin, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Managing a site like Buxted CofE Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
