What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Buscot?

Does someone need to be in?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.

About our bathroom resealing in Buscot

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. If you are dealing with water getting behind the kitchen upstand and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, we can help, whatever the surface.

Being in a small place like Buscot makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

What happens if it’s left?

Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Buscot, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

Why book with us

  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
  • White, clear, grey or another colour, product permitting
  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme

What bathroom resealing looks like in Buscot

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Around Buscot, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. For an older house near a landmark such as The Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Buscot is about 7 miles south-west of Carterton, in Oxfordshire. We carry out bathroom resealing for householders, landlords and businesses in Buscot. Our Oxfordshire coverage runs to 443 places, Buscot among them. We also work in Oxford, around 19 miles away.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much there is to do
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask about the job first and send you a clear quote before we start.

Helping us quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Where the property is
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The rough size of the job

Want a quote for bathroom resealing? Please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details. We will explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before work begins.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

The process

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, including the tidy-up. Somewhere as small as Buscot, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

How to look after the new joints

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, which is generally around 24 hours. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

DIY versus a professional finish

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

Landlord and commercial work in Buscot

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. We can quote for more than one property at once.
