Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Aird, Na h-Eileanan Siar
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Aird? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Aird
Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. Typical jobs include a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and black spots spreading through the bead, across wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What sealant work cannot fix
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant will not do:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Why act early in Aird
You do not need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. Replacing the joint is normally all it takes. If something else is wrong, we’ll tell you. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask a few questions first.

Common questions in Aird
Will you come out to Aird?
Yes, Aird is covered. We work across all of Scotland, islands included, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you cover Aird for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Aird is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Does someone need to be in?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we’re fully insured.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.
Do the sealants smell?
Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What happens on the day
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on. Expect the work to take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere like Aird may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Surface by surface
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so a neat, continuous bead matters.
Sinks & splashbacks
Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Aird
Aird is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Around Aird, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Aird
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Aird Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether the work is at height
- Any mould that needs treating
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
Asking for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Whether it has been sealed before
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. When it suits you, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Aftercare tips
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, and if anything looks wrong, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
